Ahwatukee Animal Care Hospital teamOur skilled veterinary technicians perform a multitude of skills, including provision of a variety of nursing care and medical services for our patients. Additionally they provide information and education to our clients in numerous areas of pet care and assist in maintaining medical equipment.

Among their many duties, our boarding and daycare team provide fun and loving care for our pet guests and assist in keeping our boarding areas sanitary, comfortable, and clean.

From greeting our clients and patients and managing schedules to assisting with medical records and keeping our facilities clean, Ahwatukee Animal Care Hospital and Pet Resort's client relations support team is the driving force working behind the scenes.  

Our entire team works hard to make sure you and your pet receive extraordinary care and hospitality.


Michelle Jenkins, Ph.D. - Executive Director and Veterinary Hospital Co-Owner

Dr. Michelle Jenkins is the spouse of Dr. Jeffrey Jenkins (Veterinarian) and co-owner of Ahwatukee Animal Care Hospital and Pet Resort.  Dr. Michelle Jenkins holds a doctorate in clinical psychology and clinical neuropsychology.  She also completed a postdoctoral fellowship in neuroscience and clinical neuropsychology.  She has extensive business and management experience in the fields of human mental health and neuro-rehabilitation as well as veterinary practice management.  She has been involved in the practice management of Ahwatukee Animal Care Hospital since 1999.  

Drs. Michelle and Jeff Dr. Michelle Jenkins Co-owner and Executive Director Ahwatukee Animal Care HospitalJenkins have a daughter, Tara. They reside in the Ahwatukee Foothills with their four dogs and a cat.  Dr. Michelle is a retired clinical neuropsychologist and enjoys public speaking and leading seminars. She also likes spending time with her family, reading, writing nonfiction, going to the theatre and movies, photography, tennis, and traveling.

Claudia DuPont - Practice Manager

Claudia joined the Ahwatukee Animal Care Hospital team in 2000.  She has worked in the veterinary field since 1997 and brings outstanding client relations experience, dedication, and excellence to our team. 

Claudia was born in Waco, Texas and grew up in Abilene, Texas.  She moved to Arizona in 2000.  Claudia is married and has two children.  Her family includes three dogs (a Dachshund, a Chihuahua, and a Boxer-Doberman mix), two cats, an African Gray parrot, and a Yellow Nape Amazon bird.

Anne Callahan -  Head Certified Veterinary Technician

Our team at Ahwatukee Animal Care Hospital and Pet ResortAnne graduated with honors from Massachusetts Bay College with an Associates degree in science.  She has over 25 years of experience in veterinary medicine.  She relocated to Arizona in 2004 and joined the Ahwatukee Animal Care Hospital team that same year.  Anne is a valuable team member who contributes tremendous experience, compassion, and dedication to the delivery of quality care of animals to our practice.  Anne and her spouse enjoy the companionship of their four cats (all rescued) and two dogs - a Boston terrier and a Pekingese. In her spare time, Anne enjoys cooking, motorcycle riding, dirt bike riding, and gardening.

Jessica Rios Martinez - Veterinary Assistant


Veterinary technicians at Ahwatukee Animal Care HospitalJessica was born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona. She earned a certification in veterinary
assisting from Carrington College.

Jessica has always possessed an interest in animals. She loves taking her three dogs to the park to play. Jessica also enjoys spending time with her family and hiking.


Melissa Garcia - Veterinary Assistant

Melissa is a graduate of the Carrington College Veterinary Assistant program. She has dreamed of working with animals since she was a child and is pleased to be working with our clients and their pets.

Melissa was raised in an Air Force family and had the privilege of living in a variety of places, including England. Prior to becoming a veterinary assistant, she worked as a customer service manager for 10 years. She has two dogs, a Pomeranian and a golden lab. During her free time, Melissa enjoys spending time with family, visiting museums, and hiking.

Troy Schmidt - Veterinary Assistant

Troy was born in Sacramento, California and grew up there and in Oahu, Hawaii. After graduating from high school, he joined the United States Army and was deployed to both Iraq and Aghnistan. He served honorably for ten years. Since leaving the service, he earned his Veterinary Assistant Certificate. Troy is married and has two wonderful children. He enjoys spending time with his family, riding his motorcycle,fishing, hiking, and working out.

Cassie Gannas - Veterinary Assistant  Veterinary Technician at Ahwatukee Animal Care Hospital

Ahwatukee Animal Care Hospital Veterinary TechnicianCassie graduated from Desert Vista High School in 2009 and attended Kaplin College to become a certified veterinary technician. She has been a stock car racer since age 10 years and she is one of the few female drivers on the southwest circuit. She has numerous wins to her credit. Cassie also enjoys spending time with her family,four dogs, cat, and her turtle, Franklin.

Ashley Schreiner - Veterinary Assistant


Ashley was born in Norfolk, Virginia. Her father was in the Navy; therefore, she has lived in many different places including, Hawaii, Spain, and California. She moved to Arizona to be near her parents now that her father has retired from the military. Ashley graduated from the Pima medical Institute as a veterinary assistant. She has always wanted to work with animals since she was a child. Ashley has volunteered at a shelter and had many dogs throughout her life. She now has a hamster and dogs. She enjoys spending time with her family, playing softball, and playing with her pets.

Sarah Rodriguez - Veterinary Assistant

Sarah has lived in the valley of the sun her entire life. She loves interacting and caring for animals and plans to become a certified veterinary technician. She like hiking and takes pleasure in the sunrises and sunsets on her walks. Sarah has a dachshund terrier. She looks forward to serving our clients and caring for the wonderful pets who visit Ahwatukee Animal Care Hospital.

Receptionists at Ahwatukee Animal Care HospitalStephanie joined the Ahwatukee Animal Care Hospital and Pet Resort team with over 10 years of office management experience and over 15 years of volunteering at various animal shelters and rescues. She has a commitment to providing extraordinary service to our clients.  Her compassion and kindness shine through in all she does.    Stephanie has two Rottweiler puppies and a 12-year-old Pomeranian. Ann Marie has extensive administrative and management experience in a variety of customer service related fields.  She is passionate about delivery of stellar customer Receptionist at Ahwatukee Animal Care Hospitalservice.  She is married and has five cats and two senior dogs who are living out their retirement years in the Ahwatukee Foothills.  Ann Marie is originally from New Jersey. She moved here from California in 2002.  Ann Marie enjoys finding treasures at flea markets, reading, traveling, attending the symphony, and going to movies while spending time with her husband and her church family.

Alexandra King - Receptionist/Client Relations Specialist

Alex was born and raised in Portland, Oregon. She moved to Phoenix in search of sunshine and vitamin D. After obtaining her Liberal Arts Technical Writing degree from Portland State University, Alex worked for the largest humane society in the Pacific northwest finding forever homes for more than 11,000animals annually. She loves the outdoors and completed her S.C.U.B.A. in the Puget Sound. Alex loves cold brewed coffee and is working at becoming a tea connoisseur. Alex is married and has a chihuahua Italian greyhound mix furry family member.


Christiana Garza - Boarding and Doggie Day Care Technician

Christiana was born and raised in Phoenix. Obviously an animal lover, her family includes 6 dogs, a chinchilla, an yellow head Amazon parrot, goats, and chickens. She has experience with pet rescue and assisting with pet adoptions. 
Christiana enjoys hiking, fishing, playing volleyball, and swimming. She also loves music and spending time with her family. She is very dedicated and says "I've found my passion" taking care of animals.  She hopes to become a veterinary technician.


Miryssa McCune - Boarding Technician

Miryssa was born and raised here in Phoenix. She has had many experiences helping stray dogs and cats find homes. Miryssa enjoys traveling, cooking and baking, and walking. She has dogs (i.e a two-year-old pitbull), cats, bunnies, chinchillas, birds, and a snake. Miryssa also cares for her neighbor's three horses and ten goats. Obviously, she is an animal lover. Prior to joining our staff, Miryssa was a manager of a cafe in Scottsdale and attended college. She loves caring for our clients' pets and hopes to see your pets soon!

Kattia Corrales - Boarding Technician

Kattia is an EVIT student studying veterinary assisting. She was born in Phoenix and raised in Austin, Texas. Katie is an animal lover. She has five dogs and two cats. She also has a young son. Katie enjoys spending time with her family, watching movies, travel and walks on the beach.

Jerry Woodward - Boarding and Doggie Daycare Technician

Jerry has been a member of our animal caretaker team for our Doggie Day Care and Pet Boarding Resort.  Jerry moved to Arizona from Florida  in 2011 and joined our team shortly after arriving in the Valley of the Sun.  He brings a great sense of humor and a true love Boarding Technicianfor animals to our boarding department.  Jerry enjoys the interactions he has with our boarding and day care pets and their owners.  He invites you to "stop by for a tour and let me show you where your four-legged family member will be well-cared for while you are away."

 Tara Jenkins - Web/Social Media Technician

Tara, the daughter of Drs. Michelle and Jeff Jenkins (owners of AACH), has grown up visiting, volunteering, and working part-time in both boarding and as a receptionist at Ahwatukee Animal Care Ahwatukee Animal Care HospitalHospital. She is a great communications/film and photography/computer technology asset and helps keep us up to date with our website and social media.  Additionally, she is always willing to lend a hand helping to feed and exercise our pet boarding guests when she is available. She truly loves animals and brings a happy, positive, fun spirit to the hospital.  Tara is an honors student in college double majoring in theatre and media production and creative writing with an emphasis on screenwriting.  She enjoys acting, directing, writing, filming, singing, piano, tennis, traveling, and spending time with her friends and family.  Tara has four dogs and a cat.
